If you were to ask different entrepreneurs their number one rule of business you would probably get many awesome and well thought out answers.
If you were to ask this entrepreneur, my response would be “Family First. I would be a fool to run this business and lose my family.” I can’t even count how many times I have said this to fellow business owners, customers, and interviewers. It reigns true now more than ever with our little girl in the picture.
I think what truly planted this in my heart several years ago is Matthew 16:26.
For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?
The scripture is simply saying that what good is it to work so hard that you gain all this world has to offer yet in the process you lose yourself. You lose your identity outside of your success. You lose the family and friends that got you there. You lose your relationship with God.
I know that God has gifted me with Live Simple Shop, and the skills and abilities to run it. However, I would be a complete fool to devote my entire life to growing a business and forgetting to be a wife, mama, daughter, and friend.
Yes, if I devoted more time and energy to my business it would probably grow faster, but at what cost?
So today I share my personal business rule with you to hopefully challenge you to always put family first as well! That being said we will be taking a family first break from March 11-19th! Live Simple Shop will be closed and we will be off social media! It is Spring Break in our area so we are taking advantage of it, and plan to spend plenty of time with family!
I hope you enjoy a fun family week too!
