This past week we celebrated being in our home for a whole year! I still can’t believe it, this past year has flew by. Not only does time go faster with a baby, but it was also a busy year of working on the house. Thanks to our family the whole house is complete! Actually, it got done before the year mark, our parents truly worked their butts off! I’m way behind on sharing all the before and after details with y’all, so I thought I would start with one of my favorites today! Hartlan’s bedroom.
This photo was my inspiration for her room. During our battle with infertility I went into Kirkland’s by myself one day. I wondered through the store as normal, and then this canvas in the back of the store took my breath. I’m normally not like that, but for some reason this canvas was just the perfect picture of class, grace, and a little side of spunk. I immediately called Kyle. I said, “I don’t know why but I have to have this for her room, but I shouldn’t spend the money when we aren’t even pregnant. Plus, who knows if we will even have a girl!” He said “Get it!”
Side Note: This is why I love this man! He didn’t say “We aren’t even pregnant! Why would you buy that?” He had enough faith.
I went on arguing with him (truly myself) for a couple minutes. Up to that point I hadn’t bought a single thing for a baby, we had faith but I didn’t want to be silly and buy things. My brain said that I would be crushed if we never had a girl, let alone a baby period, and this painting sat and reminded us of that. My gut said to go for it! My heart said go for it! My husband definitely said go for it! He trusted my gut more than I did.
So I bought it and this beautiful canvas sat hidden in our apartment for months! God is faithful though! I showed it off to everyone that came to the house when we were moving in and had announced our pregnancy. Once we found out that our blessing was a girl I once again was reminded of God’s faithfulness and her room inspiration truly began…
First we had to do a little remodeling. New carpet, fresh paint, and most importantly a bigger closet!!! The little 3ft by 2ft was simply not going to work for this spoiled girl! Papa and daddy work hard giving this little girl a much nicer closet.
Next, I knew I wanted a statement wall, but didn’t want to do the normal shiplap. After tossing around a few ideas I fell in love with creating something on only the center section of the wall instead of the whole wall. Sort of like a massive headboard for her crib. I’m so happy with it! It really draws your eye to the high ceilings as well.
I didn’t want to completely overload this post so our “How To” on the statement wall will be posting soon!
The statement wall now needed a little something, her name was the perfect addition!
I found places online to order her name, but it would have been smaller and way more expensive! The shipping was outrageous! So Meme and Grandpa to the rescue! I will also be sharing this amazing ” How To” soon.
Adding touches that mean something to us was important as well. Before we knew what we were having we called the baby Blessing, then we decided this was the perfect little saying for Hartlan. She is our biggest blessing and greatest adventure, so I had to create this little pillow for her room!
Just recently I printed one of our favorite pictures of her, it takes my breath away. The beautiful frame is simply a spray painted chipboard frame, it doesn’t even have glass. So easy and fun!
Last, but not least we added a shadow box from her birth that is so precious. Her beautiful dresser is her Granny B’s old dresser repainted, she loves looking in the mirror when we change her. I found several red frames, little quotes, and bins for around her room to all tie in with the canvas inspiration!
We love her room so much, and as it turns out she loves the color red! I hope you have enjoyed a look into our home. I will be sharing the “How To’s” with you soon, but you can find all the cute things linked below.
As always I want to remind you that these photos do not represent everyday life. They are of a freshly cleaned, organized, and decluttered room which is not the normal! Can I get an Amen!?
Much Love Y’all,
